Game of Thrones, a fantasy drama TV series on HBO, ended almost four years ago, but fans still remember it fondly.
The show left a massive cultural impact, not least because of its depiction of romantic scenes, some of which were quite steamy.
Naturally, fans sometimes suggest bizarre romantic scenarios that never made it into the show. But what if we told you that one of them was voiced by none other than Gwendoline Christie, who played the role of Brienne of Tarth herself.
And what a power couple it could have been!
During one of the press events, she and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who portrayed Jaime Lannister, discussed with the interviewer a kind of love triangle that occurred in the show between Brienne, Jaime and Tormund Giantsbane, played by Kristofer Hivju.
After the duo gave their thoughts on the situation, Gwendoline said that she was surprised that a female character who is not considered conventionally attractive in any way has sparked so much interest in her love life.
Then she was asked if she had a personal preference as a fan of the show, and her answer did not disappoint. "To be honest, I would like to see Brienne with Daenerys," Christie said.
Coster-Waldau's reaction was priceless, as he simply uttered a confused "oh" and leaned back in his chair.
Years later, those who remember that interview are still biting their elbows at the missed opportunity. Two strong women, united in love as rulers of the Seven Kingdoms — that could have been an amazing finale to the series.
Yes, some fans would say it would butcher the source material completely... like the latest seasons did not do exactly that.
And it could still have been better than the extremely underwhelming finale of the show that fans actually got, with the whole crazy Daenerys twist.
