This was the moment we realized something was very wrong.

The popular HBO series Game of Thrones is known for its epic battles, complex characters, and intricate storylines.

But in season 7, the show made a misstep not only with the writing, but also with the introduction of this unlikely pop star.

In the episode Dragonstone, Arya Stark stumbles upon a group of Lannister soldiers singing and enjoying a meal. Among them was Ed Sheeran, who plays a soldier named Eddie.

While some fans were excited to see the singer, many found the cameo distracting and unnecessary. It felt like a blatant attempt to appeal to a wider audience, rather than serving the story or adding to the world of Westeros.

In addition, Sheeran's performance was wooden and lacked depth. He delivered his lines with little emotion, and his presence felt awkward and out of place.

Many viewers note this was an important scene, showing Arya the Lannister soldiers are also human. However, fans feel that Sheeran is a terrible actor.

The moment when he sees Lady Stark and invites her to sing with them was very goofy and weird.

In fact, it was so weird for some viewers to see the famous pop singer in Game of Thrones. They even wondered how Arya actress Maisie Williams managed not to laugh during the filming.

Sheeran's appearance took the audience out of the story and reminded them they were actually watching a television show. It was a jarring moment that disrupted the immersion so critical to the series' success.

Years later, however, fans have taken a lighter view of Ed Sheeran's character.

Some even joke that the poor singer is lucky to be in season 7 and not 8, because then the pop icon would not have gotten away with just the hate tweets and nasty comments.

While it's understandable the showrunners wanted to include a fun cameo, they should have chosen a performer who could fit seamlessly into the world of Westeros.

Sheeran's appearance was a reminder that not every celebrity belongs on every TV drama, and sometimes a famous face can do more harm than good.
