From Seattle To Chicago: Which Grey’s Anatomy Alum Is Now a Part Of Chicago Med Squad?
That’s what we call a smooth transition.
Summary:
- Chicago Med is an NBC medical procedural drama, part of the One Chicago TV universe.
- Season 8 was the last for 3 cast members, so the show needed to recruit more new people for season 9.
- Sophia Ali, who viewers may already know as Grey's Anatomy's Dr Dahlia Qadri, will be joining Chicago Med as Dr Zola Ahmad.
If there's one thing we can applaud, it's the commitment some actors have to certain genres. We all know Tom Cruise as the star of all spy and action movies. And just like that, television medical procedurals may now be known as the genre of choice for Sophia Ali.
The actress, who previously starred in ABC's hit drama Grey's Anatomy as an intern at Grey Sloan Memorial who was (rather unfairly) fired by Miranda Bailey, is now moving hospitals and changing identities. At Gaffney Chicago Medical Center, she'll be known as Dr Zola Ahmad. And hopefully her run will be a lot more successful.
What prompted the creation of a new character in the Chicago Med universe? And what role will she play in the Chicago Med dynamic? Here's everything we know so far about Sophia Ali's Dr Zola Ahmad.
Zola Ahmad in Chicago Med Season 9
After the end of the last season, all Chicago Med fans were prepared for new cast members. After the departures of Guy Lockard, Brian Tee and Nick Gehlfuss, it was only logical that new characters would appear, otherwise Gaffney would have been horribly understaffed.
The season's first newcomer, Luke Mitchell, was introduced as Dr Mitch Ripley in the season premiere. Sophia Ali would be the second, as her character will be featured in the upcoming installment. And she promises to be one of the troublemakers for the hospital.
From what's known about her at this point, Dr Zola Ahmad will be a new, first-year ER resident who's already getting into a lot of trouble, all in the good spirit of helping her patients. Passionate about her craft and dedicated to helping people, she often acts impulsively, which can lead to conflict.
In the very next episode, for example, Dr Ahmad will be at loggerheads with the attending doctor, Dr Crockett Marcel. Whatever the situation, this is a risky place to start in a new workplace, so we can only hope that Sophia Ali's character will stay on for longer than she did on Grey's Anatomy.
To get your first look at Dr Zola Ahmad and not miss any juicy details about her, tune in to NBC on Wednesday 24 January for the next episode of Chicago Med season 9.
