Gavin and Rachel forever!

Summary:

  • Friends is overflowing with romance.
  • There are several relationships on the show that fans feel needed more time.
  • Gavin, Rachel's former co-worker, was a perfect match for her.

One of the most rewatchable series ever created is Friends, and it’s actually easy to understand why. The show has so many storylines and such a wide cast that on every binge you find out something new to obsess with.

While the first time you watched the show you gave your undivided attention to the main storylines, like Ross and Rachel’s on-again off-again relationship drama or Chandler’s Kathy/Joey dilemma, every next rewatch you focus on different other subplots.

So it was during that when the fans realized Gavin Mitchell should have been given more credit than he actually got.

Gavin appears in the show during season 9 in the episode called The One Where Rachel Goes Back to Work, and frankly, at first we hate him.

Dermot Mulroney's character is arrogant and overall unpleasant, and behaves like a total jerk.

He took over Rachel’s work while she was on maternity leave and when Rachel saw him she decided to return to the office earlier than she should have.

Over time, however, the two of them began to get along quite well. Gavin even helped her out once when he offered to watch Emma while Rachel gave her presentation.

After a while, it became obvious that they had a real spark between them, so they started dating, only for the writers to abruptly end their love story.

“He had quite a funny banter with Rachel. I didn’t like him at first, but he turned out to be a good guy. I wish Rachel ended up with him actually. The actors had great chemistry and they could’ve been a really solid couple,” Redditor Disastrous_Narwhal46 said.

Well, maybe having them as an endgame is a little too much, but seeing Rachel in a mature relationship with someone other than Ross would definitely have been a nice thing.
