Fox’s Sitcom Dubbed ‘Banger’ by Fans Got Axed After Just Two Seasons
A must-see if you’re a fan of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
There is no doubt that Fox has always been killing it with sitcoms that have become our favorite ones. These include Married... with Children, That '70s Show and the biggest animated hits in TV history, the cultish The Simpsons and Family Guy.
However, the network is also notorious for unfair cancellations of fan-favorite shows, and the sitcom we’re going to talk about also fell victim to Fox executives. However, it’s still hailed by fans who claim it was axed painfully right at its peak.
The show centers on Mickey, a reckless slacker who is intelligent but clearly lacks ambition. She spends her days hustling and looking for easy money, and that’s why she comes to her estranged, but wealthy sister, but there is a surprise waiting for her.
The sister and her billionaire husband flee to avoid a federal indictment, leaving Mickey with their three ill-mannered children. It’s high time for her to eventually grow up and take on the first responsibility in her life, and it’s gonna be truly a fun ride.
Titled The Mick, it’s a hilarious comedy roller coaster of a sitcom, as here we have an extremely charismatic lead and different children’s archetypes. The chemistry between the kids and the Mickey actress is so obvious that it’ll keep you glued to the screen the whole time.
For its high-class humor that sometimes gets even darker and for its character-driven narration it can be compared to such hits, as Fox’s The Last Man on Earth (2015 – 2018) and Krysten Ritter-starring Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 (2012 – 2014).
Besides, the show is quite reminiscent of FX’s banger show It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (2005 – ...), and if you’re a fan of this series, be sure to check out The Mick, as it also stars Kaitlin Olson, Philadelphia’s Sweet Dee actress, who is the fandom’s pet.
Aired in 2017, the sitcom was canceled by Fox already in 2018 after the second season.
“I was so surprised how entertained I was with this show and how quickly hooked I was. Terrible loss,” says Redditor @Gan-san.
Apart from The Mick’s fan reviews, its amazing audience score of 92% on Rotten Tomatoes also proves it should have been continued.
“This show is a banger. Every character. Every episode,” admits @LectureSpecialist681.
Luckily, you can check out this criminally overlooked show, as The Mick is now available for streaming on Prime and Apple TV+ .
