His past is shady, owing to the fact that he caught his wife having an affair, leading to a drinking problem, which in turn got him fired from his job at the LAPD. Jesse finds employment as the top cop in a small town called Paradise, but only because those who hired him think they can manipulate him into perpetuating their crooked deals and evil conspiracies.
