She could’ve helped Sheldon become a better person.

Summary:

  • Young Sheldon is a prequel to another CBS hit sitcom, The Big Bang Theory.
  • Young Sheldon explores the Cooper family life back in the 90s Texas.
  • Fans believe that some minor characters of Young Sheldon were done with too soon and needed more screen time.
  • Ms. Fenley, the music teacher who sees great potential in Sheldon’s performance, is one of them.

It's no secret that Young Sheldon is now even more popular than its predecessor. Although the show still tells the story of one of the main characters from the original show, it has managed to change the style, the pacing, and even the humor to appeal to a larger audience. Besides, there's hardly anyone watching the show for Sheldon at this point.

There are far too many characters to be seduced by, starting with the eccentric Meemaw and the evening with Sheldon's troubled sister Missy. Each character has their own arc and storyline, leaving Sheldon to be a mere participant in everyone else's lives.

While it doesn't seem like the audience minds the pace and style of storytelling the show has taken, if there was room for more focus on the titular character, viewers know exactly who they'd want to mentor him. Melissa Tang's Ms. Fenley would be the one they'd want to bring back.

What Happened To Young Sheldon’s Music Teacher?

The teacher we met in the very first episode of Young Sheldon ended up playing a much less significant role in his life than expected.

When an adult character comes into a young character's life like that, the viewers are sure they'll be a mentor and guide the kid through the struggles. Not only was Sheldon good at the piano, but he could have actually benefited from such relationship.

Through music, he could have learned more about the side of humanity that is not so easily explained scientifically.

Music could have taught him about feelings and emotions that he'll have to deal with one way or another. No matter how good or bad his social skills were, he would have become part of a larger world. A world that would have been much easier to navigate with some knowledge beyond physics.

Although Ms. Fenley's run on Young Sheldon was very short-lived, it had a very promising beginning that the writers simply chose not to continue. Who knows, maybe Sheldon Cooper would have grown up to be a little more likable and not so frustrating to both his future friends in the universe and the viewers behind the screens.

If you want to re-watch both appearances of Melissa Tang's Ms. Fenley during Young Sheldon, the show is available for streaming on Netflix or Max. The final season 7 of Young Sheldon will premiere on CBS on February 15, 2024, so be sure to save the date so you don't miss it.
