Forget Silo Season 2: Netflix’s Long-Awaited Sci-Fi Show Is Your Next Dystopian Watch
Get ready for the most ambitious sci-fi project of the year.
In 2023, Apple TV was almost single-handedly responsible for bringing us high-quality, big-budget sci-fi series. And the most prominent representative was, of course, Silo starring Rebecca Ferguson, which masterfully mixed post-apocalyptic sci-fi, conspiracy detective and dark thriller.
Predicted release date for the second season of Silo is not going to please fans – new episodes will be released at the end of 2024 at best. While you wait for the next chapter of one of the best sci-fi projects of recent years, you can watch another show that seems to be the most important TV series event of the year so far.
The Biggest Sci-Fi Show of the Year Is Coming to Netflix
On March 21, Netflix will release another potential sc-fi hit from the creators of Game of Thrones – David Benioff and D. B. Weiss. After the end of Game of Thrones, Benioff and Weiss signed an exclusive $200 million deal with the platform.
Since then, they have fulfilled their streaming obligations in a very specific way: in 2020, they directed Leslie Jones stand-up special; in 2021, they produced the sweet dramedy The Chair; and in 2022, Weiss wrote the children's comedy Metal Lords.
And soon, we will finally get to see the project that will be a highlight of it all.
What is 3 Body Problem About?
3 Body Problem is an adaptation of the groundbreaking science fiction series by Chinese author Liu Cixin.
In the 1960s, the People's Republic of China sent a signal into space to make contact with alien civilizations. In our times, the answer comes – unknown forces are trying to hinder the technological progress of mankind.
The main characters will study the strange events taking place among the world's scientists. Experiments give atypical results: even known physical phenomena change the principles of functioning. It seems that something from outside is interfering with life on Earth.
3 Body Problem Has Everything We Love Sci-Fi For
The plot includes the Cultural Revolution, the mysterious murders of scientists, a meeting between humanity and aliens, and timeline jumps – so much of what we love about large-scale, high-quality sci-fi.
Such high-profile shows do not come out every year, and here, in addition to the showrunners from Game of Thrones (which lost some credibility after the finale), the actors from the show will be returning: John Bradley, Liam Cunningham and Jonathan Pryce, as well as composer Ramin Djawadi.
