Forget Rhaenyra and Alicent, House of the Dragon 2 Has a Much Fiercer Battle

After the failure of the Game of Thrones finale, many fans were hesitant to get into the series' prequel, House of The Dragon. Even though the show was based on a completed story, unlike its unfortunate predecessor, there were still plenty of ways to ruin it. However, those fears turned out to be unjustified.

To the delight of fans, the production quality improved so much that the show was renewed for a second season the day after its premiere. Unfortunately, such a quick response did not save the fandom from a long wait that was prolonged even further by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

However, the long wait is about to end very soon. Season two of House of the Dragon promises to hit the screens of HBO viewers in June 2024, and the production team behind the show has already teased viewers with not one, but two trailers, specifically for Team Black and Team Green.

House of the Dragon: Daemon vs. Aemond

While some viewers were really disappointed with the lack of new characters and action in the trailers, they paint a perfect picture of what's to come.

Even better is the fact that House of the Dragon has already nodded to one of the most epic scenes from George R.R. Martin's book, which the series intends to keep. It has nothing to do with Alicent or Rhaenyra, but rather features their most skilled and ruthless warriors, Prince Aemond and Prince Daemon Targaryen.

In season 1, we all witnessed the tension between Daemon and Aemond. The two, very similar in their violent ideas and very skilled as warriors, are technically uncle and nephew, but the relationship between them is far from familial. Despite the obvious similarities, Aemond is the son of Alicent Hightower, whom Daemon deeply hates.

Separated into two different teams, with Aemond representing the Greens and Daemon fighting for the Blacks, the two ended up being a reason for each other's deaths in the novel. Fighting each other one-on-one, they ended up falling off their dragons.

Because Daemon and Aemond are so similar and yet fight for such different ideologies, this is already one of the most anticipated fights in the series. It probably won't happen in season 2, but Aemond's careless ‘My uncle is a challenge I welcome’ definitely sets up the relationship.
