If you found The Witcher's nude scenes or the Cavill conflict controversial, you're up for a rude awakening: what comes in season 3 will be way, way worse than anything that's ever happened in or around the show until now.

After a long build-up in the first two seasons, Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri all got together at the end of S2, but as the next part of their story is coming closer, so is the realization of what we're in for in the next episodes.

To understand what we're getting at, focus on the reveal of The White Flame's identity. Turns out, the all-powerful emperor of Nilfgaard is none other than Duny, Urcheon of Erlenwald, also known as Emhyr var Emreis.

He was the hedgehog-looking guy who used the Law of Surprise to marry Queen Calanthe's daughter Pavetta in season 1 and also Ciri's father.

Now that that's out of the way, get ready for a ride — you'll soon find out what's that terrible thing that awaits us further in the show.

Emhyr is the son of Nilfgaard's former emperor. His father was overthrown by the Usurper, and Emhyr was obsessed with a prophecy about himself which he learned about soon after Ciri's birth.

It made him kill his wife, Pavetta, and fake his own death (luckily, Pavetta managed to save Ciri). After that, Emhyr returned to Nilfgaard, led a revolt against the Usurper, and brutally murdered all his political enemies.

He then paved his ballroom's floor with their gravestones thus earning the title of "The White Flame Dancing on the Barrows of His Enemies".

He didn't stop there: still obsessed with the prophecy, he started the search for his lost daughter, Ciri. This was the reason behind Nilfgaard's attack on the northern kingdoms, and this is the core of the upcoming controversy.

Now, Emhyr is searching for Ciri because, according to the prophecy, his son will rule over the entire Continent and inherit the Elder Blood… Which runs in the veins of Ciri.

So the reason for Emhyr's search is that he wants his daughter to bear his child.

He doesn't bother himself with concerns about it being wrong on both moral and physical levels: the prophecy is his sole motivation, and he's not going to stop at anything on his path to producing the future ruler of the world.

This is definitely going to be talked about a lot, especially among the people who are only familiar with The Witcher through the Netflix show — this incestuous plot twist is going to come as a shocking revelation for many of them.
