Forget Jessica Knight, NCIS Season 22 Needs to Dive Deeper Into This Major Character’s Storyline
That big cliffhanger isn’t the only reason.
NCIS season 21 has been over for a while now, leaving fans with two big plot twists to ponder over until the show’s next installment hits CBS later this year. The season finale suddenly brought all the attention to Jessica Knight who has accepted a big offer and thus is set to get to the other side of the country, leaving her previous and pretty much beloved workplace.
Now that NCIS fans don’t cease to speculate about Jessica’s promotion and how exactly it will affect her career and personal life, it seems somewhat unfair to bring her in the spotlight while there’s another major character whose storyline appears to be no less compelling.
The show’s latest season ended on a double cliffhanger concerning both Jessica Knight and her boss, NCIS Supervisory Special Agent Alden Parker. While fans now turned to making all possible theories about the direction that Jessica’s storyline will eventually go in, they don’t look that interested in what new Parker’s vision will bring to the NCIS plot.
The season 21 ending sees Alden getting injured, which results in a very detailed vision of a little girl playing on a boat, most likely Parker’s sister who probably died on that very boat. While nothing about it is clear so far, Parker’s vision is still not the only reason to expect some big changes for his story when it’s brought up in the next season.
Apart from revealing some secrets about his past, the character’s love life also has a chance to get an update. Season 21 featured some kind of sparkle that Parker had with Navy Commander Clara Logan in episode 8, when the former’s team got to investigate the death of Logan’s medical partner. An unexpected and quite dangerous turn of events brings them closer and lets both Clara and Alden develop a mutual trust for each other.
Given that now Parker’s background story is seemingly resurfacing after he hallucinates about some traumatic experience, it wouldn’t come as a big surprise if his current storyline gets replenished even more — this time with a new and refreshing relationship that the latest season had already hinted at.
