Fire Country’s Newest Teaser Has Fans Raging About Bode’s Nonsense Arc
What was the point?
Summary:
- Fire Country is a CBS firefighting procedural that has already made a lot of noise and received very positive reviews.
- Although season 2 was shorter than the first, it managed to wrap up an important arc for Bode Leone and his potential child from a high school sweetheart.
- However, with the paternity test coming back negative, many fans are struggling to find a reason to include this storyline at all.
Like many other TV shows, no matter the network, Fire Country's second season fell victim to the WGA and SAG AFTRA strikes and had to be cut in order to be released at all. While the first season of the show consisted of 22 episodes, the second season will only air 10, making it very close to the finale.
However, the closer fans get to the end of the season, the harder it is to see the point of a major twist that surprised Bode this season. For a good half of the season, he worried that little Genevieve was his biological daughter. Now that the truth is out and it's confirmed that she's not, viewers are disappointed.
Fire Country Season 2 Finale
Although the finale of Fire Country's second season is just around the corner, airing on May 3, there are still two episodes that will lead up to it. Episode 8 of season 2, titled It's Not Over, features a very interesting cameo by Gabriela's mother, who makes a surprise appearance at the firemen's ball.
However, all eyes are still on Bode and how he deals with the news of Genevieve's paternity. Even though this storyline seems to be over, many feel that it wasn't properly resolved. Bode had hopes of having a child and really wanted to do better by her. Is that intention really over now?
While some people are upset that Jake wants to take over Genevieve's upbringing now that her mother is gone, others believe that this whole thing was nothing more than a learning lesson for Bode, who will make some changes in his life. There is also a theory that Genevieve was just a tool to get Bode out of jail sooner due to the shortened season.
Either way, it's hard to argue with the close bond Jake formed with his girlfriend's daughter during the time they lived together. So letting her go and spend the rest of her childhood with him as a father figure by her side is the best decision, no matter which character you're rooting for the most.
Fire Country is now confirmed to return for season 3 on CBS, and hopefully the season will be as long as the first one. Also, there is still a chance of seeing a Fire Country based spin-off with Morena Baccarin's Mickey Fox in the lead. So stay tuned for more news and updates. Until then, catch the rest of Fire Country season 2 every Friday on CBS.
