That’s the twist no one expected.

Summary:

  • Fargo is a black comedy crime drama TV show, produced by FX and inspired by the Coen brothers’ movie of the same name.
  • Each season follows a new story set in another location and time, portrayed by the new cast members.
  • The ongoing season 5 has surprised the viewers with the lack of early deaths.

The beauty of shows like Fargo lies in the variety of stories that cannot be told. Of course, they're all united by the genre and the general vibe set up in the 90s by the Coen Brothers' original movie, but each season of the show still hits differently.

Traveling through time periods and regions, viewers are left to decide which set of characters they like best and which mystery intrigues them the most. From season 1, which takes place in 2006, to season 4, which takes viewers back to the 50s, each story is very different. What remains the same is the production quality and the perfect casting choices.

Compared to all the previous years of Fargo, season 5 stands out for one of the least expected reasons. So far, it has let too many people live, and fans find this change the most welcome refreshment.

Is Fargo Season 5 Good?

Fans are very excited to see the show finally learning from its own mistakes and holding onto its characters to show their full potential. If before it felt like Fargo was going to kill everyone as soon as they became at least mildly interesting, now there's a chance for some real intrigue.

Also, the fact that the audience is already so used to the way the show usually handles deaths only adds to the suspense. The stakes are now high for every character, and every time they manage to escape death, the audience gasps with more surprise than any previous murder scene.

“This is actually something that I have been really enjoying about the season. They are really holding off on major character deaths, which has been making scenes extra tense cause it feels like at any point someone could die. I have a feeling these final 3 episodes are really going to be a bloodbath,” Redditor Owl-with-Diabetes said.

Some fans believe that the main reason for this is the overall smaller cast of the season. However, just like any other show, the plot and characters come before the actors are cast, so the majority prefer to believe that the decision to reduce the number and intensity of deaths at the beginning of the season was intentional.

However, the last few episodes may just make up for all the killing Fargo season 5 has missed so far. To see how the story ends, be sure to tune in to FX on Tuesdays to not miss any new episodes!
