Fans Up in Arms Over Squid Game 2 Questionable Casting Choices

Recently, Netflix announced the updated cast of the world-famous Korean series Squid Game by releasing a teaser for the second season. The release quickly drew criticism from fans.

On June 17, the fans went wild when Netflix released the first teaser for the long-awaited sequel to the series.

The teaser was shot entirely in the aesthetic of the series, which became a worldwide hit thanks in large part to its visuals. Of course, fans couldn't hide their excitement as almost all of the main stars from last season returned to the show, including Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-joon, and of course Gong Yoo.

Along with them, the teasers also showed brand new players that K-drama fans already know well. Season 2 of Squid Game will feature Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Yang Dong-geun, and Park Sung-hoon. But it seems that not all viewers were satisfied with such a list of actors.

Many fans were shocked by the complete absence of women. According to fans, the show's creators could have invited at least one of the famous actresses to play the lead roles.

One of the rising stars of the first season was Anupam Tripathi, who played Ali Abdul. This time around, audiences have been confused by the complete absence of actors of other nationalities.

The first season had impressive female characters, older people and people of different nationalities. But this time we only see well-known male actors of the same age, and that doesn't seem to be a very good choice. After the first season, there needs to be at least some gender diversity to keep viewers interested.

It's almost certain that the cast will be expanded for season 2, but many fans are clearly worried that the sequel won't be as exciting as they want it to be.

There is not yet an exact release date for the second season of Squid Game, but it is known that it will be aired in 2024.
