Fans Think They Know Why Yellowstone Season 5 Hiatus is So Long

Yellowstone season 5, which has been historically split into two installments, will not return until summer — and fans believe the reason is almost as frustrating as the last eight episodes were.
According to fans, the long hiatus has "no other reason but to extend the season and milk monthly subscriptions for Paramount." With Yellowstone being one of Paramount Plus ' biggest hits, fans believe that several months of the break are aimed at milking as much money from subscribers as possible, since the majority of Paramount Plus subscriptions come from Yellowstone fans.
However, it looks like many people are on track to simply cancel their subscription until summer in order to avoid paying to the platform that doesn't even bother to release new episodes for so long.
Not eager to pay for something they can't watch, people are urging the rest of the Yellowstone fandom to follow the lead. Fan outrage is fueled by the fact that the first part of the season was less than exciting, with many people suggesting that the show has simply ran out of the story.
Some people believe that the filming for the second part of the season might not have even started. Others are already calling on the showrunners to confirm that season 5 will wrap the series up, as it looks like the story has nowhere to go at this point.
With episode 8 not providing any cliffhanger or literally anything interesting for fans, it looks like creators might as well listen to fans and focus on multiple spinoffs that Yellowstone already has.
Episode 9 of season 5 is set to return in summer 2023, with no particular release date scheduled by Paramount yet.
