Fans Poke Fun at Quentin Tarantino's Explanation on Sex Scenes in His Movies
Apparently showing feet is much more important to the plot of his films.
Quentin Tarantino is known and loved for many things that often appear in his movies, including grotesque violence, brilliant dialogue, and dark humor.
However, one thing he seems to curiously avoid is showing sex scenes in his work, with exceptions in Jackie Brown and Inglourious Basterds.
In a recent interview with Variety, he explained his stance on the matter, but it led to some unexpected yet humorous consequences.
The acclaimed filmmaker stated that sex is not part of his vision of cinema, elaborating that if there had ever been a sex scene that was essential to the story, he would have included it in the movie.
Tarantino also pointed out that such scenes are extremely difficult to shoot in a way that makes them look natural, as the actors are very tense.
This revelation immediately sparked a wave of jokes on the Internet, as the director apparently thinks that certain other scenes that appear frequently in his movies are very essential to the plot.
It is common knowledge that Quentin has a foot fetish, and fans point out that almost every movie he has directed has explicit shots of women's feet.
From Kill Bill to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, they are everywhere, and now it seems they were crucial to the plot.
Fans also poke fun at the director's ability to include these scenes even in his co-directing or guest directing projects.
They joke that the scene in From Dusk Till Dawn where Richie Gecko, portrayed by Tarantino himself, drinks whiskey from Salma Hayek's foot was a writing exercise to get a woman's foot in his mouth.
Or that he even ingeniously managed to include a gratuitous shot of the feet of the two female leads of CSI in his guest directing spot by having them inexplicably sunbathing on the roof of the lab...
Of course, his point is well taken, as all too many directors include sexual scenes just for the sake of including them, without any concern for how well they fit into the story.
Still, it is extremely funny to hear this coming from Quentin.
