Fans Outraged Over 'Obi-Wan Kenobi' Leak, And You Don't Want to Know Why
We all hate leaks but cannot resist the temptation to get our hands on them as quick as we can – only to inevitably regret it later.
Warning: the following article contains major unconfirmed spoilers for 'Obi-Wan Kenobi '.
Less than a month before the release of 'Obi-Wan Kenobi' TV series, the major twist for the finale seems to have been leaked, sparking ire among the fans. Some of them were outraged merely because the plot has been leaked, and others took issue with the particular details of the revealed story.
It is unclear to what extent the leaked plot resembles the one we'll get to see after May 27, so maybe it's too early to freak out.
The leaked plot was posted on the website MakingStarWars.net, split into four parts, and then made its way over on Reddit. It seems that the part that angered fans the most is actually the finale of the story, where it turns out that Star Wars … is going to be retconned.
Yes, according to the leaks, Obi-Wan will actually fail to protect Luke Skywalker from the Empire, and the fact that Luke survives is only due to Reva, one of Darth Vader's inquisitors, who decides to spare the boy out of the goodness of her heart. Moreover, she heads to Vader and tells him she completed the mission and killed Obi-Wan. However, he is not that easy to persuade, and Reva ends up being killed by Vader.
Now that is quite disappointing, many fans concluded. Not only it makes Obi-Wan twice a failure after he failed to guide Anakin Skywalker properly, but also he never protected Luke – and all of this goes contrary to the original Star Wars story.
Many fans decided they will not perceive the upcoming TV series as canon.
Some people even called for boycotting Disney Plus entirely.
For others, however, the leak was not that surprising at all.
Unpopular opinions are here as well.
Once again: these leaks can still turn out to be completely false, having nothing in common with the actual plot of the upcoming show. 'Obi-Wan Kenobi' premieres on Disney Plus on May 27, and only then we'll get to freak out (or not) for a valid enough reason.
