The third season of the show has shifted its focus, but it may not be as out of place as it first seems.

As The Mandalorian 's third season continues to unfold, fans have begun to notice a shift in the show's focus.

Some have complained that the show is no longer about the titular bounty hunter, but instead focuses on all sorts of secondary characters, from Dr. Penn Pershing to Grogu to Bo-Katan Kryze.

But... is that a bad thing, and was the series really about Din Djarin at all?

Ever since Grogu, a young Force-sensitive survivor of Order 66, was introduced in the first episode of the first season, the story has been as much about him as it has been about his father figure.

According to many fans, the story has since slowly established itself as Grogu's journey to becoming a Mandalorian himself.

After all, it is more of a philosophy of life than a birthright, as the whole tradition of raising foundlings suggests.

Some also believe that the title of the show is intentionally vague, as it could be about any Mandalorian, not necessarily Din Djarin.

Others were disappointed when the dark saber, the ancient symbol of power in the Mandalorian culture, was given to Bo-Katan instead of Din emerging as the new leader of his people.

However, from a Lore-wise perspective, this is a good thing. Bo-Katan comes from a royal family, whereas Din was always nobody.

It would have been rather odd to put such a character, who clearly does not care about power, in charge of the entire restored nation.

This is also supported by the fact that it was Bo-Katan who saw the legendary mythosaur, not Din. Applying the annoying Chosen One trope to him would have destroyed the whole established tone of the series.

As Reddit user Duke_CrowBait summed it up perfectly:

"The trick is, the title also works on a few levels. The Mandalorian as a people, [Grogu's] journey from jedi youngling to potentially becoming a Mandalorian, and Din redeeming himself to rejoin the Mandalorians."

So maybe this change in focus is justified after all. Fans will have to wait at least until the end of the season to see where the story goes from here.
