Fans Are Okay With Chris Evans Returning to the MCU on One Condition
Captain America has been a big and beloved part of the MCU since the very beginning.
So why are fans not that excited to see him come out of retirement for (at least) one last battle?
For starters, many feel that it would not be fair to the Falcon who is the rightfully chosen and Steve-approved successor to Captain America 's title.
That kind of makes sense, otherwise, we risk having another Cap vs. Cap situation. Not to say it would not be fun to watch!
Second, Cap was finally rewarded with a quiet life in his own timeline and reunited with his lost love Peggy Carter. The fans are surprisingly not so cruel (this time) to take all of that away from him. Again.
Fans are ready to see Rogers back in action on one condition and one condition only – if he makes a cameo appearance. In fact, they have come up with several great ways to do it!
Some say that Cap would be awesome as Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch, from an alternate universe. We are sure Chris is more than capable of handling that! What is one more role in the MCU to him, huh?
Others crave as many Caps as possible, dreaming of how Marvel can bring Evans back to play multiple Cap variants from the Multiverse. This would open the door to endless possibilities plot-wise and joke-wise.
People also have this vision in mind – Hydra Captain America. In this scenario, Rogers leads everyone to believe that he is a good guy, only to reveal that he is actually "Evil Cap" at the most (in)convenient time possible.
That would be the plot twist of the decade!
Some fans believe in a simpler comeback – just Rogers as an old man sitting at a moon base "doing moon stuff" and going, "How did I get there?" before the credits roll.
That would be a nice nod to Cap but it would require some explaining to do later. Old Man Steve for Cap 4?
Whether Marvel will actually bring back Steve Rogers full-time or for a cameo role is unclear, so at the moment we can only keep fantasizing about it for now.
In any case, we just want to say – Chris, we miss you! Let Marvel do the rest…
