Fans Accuse Disney of Sabotaging Best Star Wars Project
Fans of the franchise have been eagerly awaiting the release of season 2 of Andor, which follows the adventures of Cassian Andor at the dawn of the Rebellion. But the next installment of the series may never be the same.
The Writers Guild of America tried to change working conditions with the major studios, but the companies refused to work with them on such terms, and more than 11,000 writers went on strike.
And Tony Gilroy, the creator of Andor, joined the protesters. Although the script for the new season of the show is presumably finished, it's common for material to be rewritten during filming.
Among other things, Mr. Gilroy is not only a writer, but also the showrunner, so his absence from the set could really hurt the quality of the whole franchise.
However, Disney will not put the production on hold. The company wants to release everything on time and does not report that the release of the new season of the Star Wars show will be delayed.
Sure, Andor 2 may come out on time, but many fans are noticing that it won't be the series they love. Tony Gilroy created the show with amazing characters and memorable dialogue.
Audiences have been waiting for this kind of Star Wars, but Disney's greed and unwillingness to pay could lead to the end of one of the best installments in the Galaxy Far, Far Away...
Fans are not willing to accept this situation. Redditor Iamnotwithouttoads even suggests canceling Disney+ and staying unsubscribed until Disney agrees to with the Writers Guild of America's terms.
Many fans agree with the proposal and are even willing to unsubscribe, but some feel that strikes rarely lead to settled agreements.
While it is unclear if the allegations against Disney are true, it is obvious that the company has a lot riding on the success of Star Wars.
The company has invested billions of dollars in the franchise, and its future success depends on the performance of upcoming projects like Andor.
And Disney is better off developing these franchises rather than getting greedy — at least according to the Star Wars fandom.
