Fan Theory Kinda Turns Stranger Things Into Hunger Games, But It... Works
If anything, the Hawkins gang may definitely use some odds being in their favor.
As Stranger Things is nearing its series finale, fans just can't stop deciphering what they believe to be the clues for season 5. Among such "clues" are many things, including the Upside Down earthquake in Hawkins, and it turns out that even cracks in the ground can serve up good fan theory material.
According to Twitter user sapphicjopper, the gates to the Upside Down are not split open in a completely random way, but they rather divide Hawkins into four separate quadrants — exactly like the cracks in Vecna's clock.
"What if things happen in the corresponding quadrant during those hours? (like an army of demodogs being unleashed from 11-1 everyday)," the fan continued.
This would almost be a Hunger Games homage: fans of the Mockingbird remember that in Part 2, titled Catching Fire, the 75th arena was also tied to a clock-like system, with every hour having a certain cruel surprise for the participants.
According to the fan, even the final frame of season 4 might hint at the group having to split in order to defend separate "quadrants". This falls in line with how things worked out in previous seasons of the Netflix horror hit, when the Hawkins gang had to coordinate their actions while being in different places.
With Vecna wounded and irritated by the Hawkins gang, it's likely that he would be willing to turn the town into some sort of a Hunger Games arena. However, it remains only a theory as season 5 details are being kept under wraps so far.
The fifth season will become the final one for Stranger Things. The premiere date is yet to be announced.
