Fan Once Told Simon Helberg TBBT Sucked, and His Reaction Was Priceless
Being one of the longest running sitcoms of all time, with a total of 275 episodes, The Big Bang Theory has received a vast array of reviews over the years.
The show has been both praised and criticized, but this has almost always taken place on the internet.
One time, however, a fan outright said to Simon Helberg that TBBT sucked, and Helberg's reaction couldn't have been any better!
Simon Helberg, who famously played Howard Wolowitz on TBBT, is one of the most likable characters on the sitcom. He used to steal whatever scene he was in, and fans have commended him for being multi-talented, having the funniest dialog, and stellar delivery.
It's hardly surprising that he became so popular – hilarious jokes paired with ridiculous outfits never failed to make the audience laugh.
But despite being loved by so many fans and his fame on the show, he received plenty of hate from those who didn't like TBBT, too. In Helberg's case, however, it wasn't just an issue of some people ranting on Reddit, but the haters felt comfortable enough to vent about the show in person.
The actor revealed to Mayim Bialik during her podcast that people would literally come up and make the introduction to him by saying they couldn't stand the show. This happened nearly every day, and it got understandably frustrating for him.
However, despite being annoyed by this, Helberg had the perfect way of dealing with the hate. Instead of reacting in a negative way, he decided to do the opposite and offered to buy the hater a coffee and, sometimes, even a bagel.
He revealed, "So, a guy comes up and goes, 'I can't stand it, but my roommate loves it so it's on in the background and anyway I read about your negotiations. Wanna buy me a cup of coffee?' And I was like 'Yeah, you had me at you hate my show. Would you like a bagel to go with that?"
Talk about rude!
It's astonishing how someone can think that doing something like this is acceptable. And it's even harder to imagine how one can tolerate this and be nice back, right? Well, Helberg has a different way of looking at this. He's convinced that this type of disrespectful behavior actually shows that the person is secretly a fan. Otherwise, why would they even bother?
