Everything You Need to Know About The Walking Dead: Dead City
The fourth spin-off for The Walking Dead is dropping in a month, and here's what you need to know about it before tuning in for the first episode.
Who
In The Walking Dead: Dead City, we'll follow Maggie Rhee and Negan Smith's new joint adventure. Their main quest is finding Maggie's son Hershel, but there are many more things to take in.
For instance, Maggie and Negan will confront local powers and try to survive them while also having an internal conflict of their own.
Where
The story of The Walking Dead: Dead City will take place in New York City's Manhattan. Just like the rest of the world, the island will be very different from what we're used to as it will be consumed by the havoc and destruction of the zombie apocalypse. The new Manhattan is ruled by Walkers and newly-emerged dictators.
When
Dead City's story takes place after the events of the original The Walking Dead series. Maggie has already lost her husband Glenn, so the potential loss of her son Hershel has her struggling.
The truce between Maggie and Negan from back in season 11 has also grown even thinner over time, and the tension is growing.
Powers
The post-apocalyptic Manhattan has its own rules. The island lives under the dictatorship of The Croat who's largely feared and has his eyes set on Negan.
Marshall Armstrong is also set on hunting down Negan and bringing him to justice. These and many other NYC players will cause trouble for the duo on their journey.
Connections
As the show's star, Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan Smith), shared with E! Online, The Walking Dead: Dead City's likely to have crossovers with other The Walking Dead spin-offs.
Admittedly, we could have a brief appearance of Rick Grimes, Michonne, or any other original character who's managed to survive until then.
Production
According to the official information, the series will be short and only consist of 6 episodes. In terms of the team, it's known that Eli Jorné will be The Walking Dead: Dead City's showrunner while Cohan and Morgan will be the show's executive producers. The production and post-production are finished at this point in time.
Release
The series' release date is June 18, 2023, so we'll get to see the first episode in around a month. Until then, you can get a feel of The Walking Dead: Dead City by watching the latest trailer that showcases the view of zombie-infested Manhattan, new Walker variants, and the story setup.
