Even Virgin River Director Was Blown Away By THAT S5 Cliffhanger
There were several of them, to begin with.

Did someone say emotional rollercoaster? Because that's exactly what Virgin River heard, or else we don't know how to explain episodes 509 and 510.
Stuffed with jaw-dropping revelations and twists, Virgin River managed not only to play with our feelings but also even to spice up the genre game a bit.
Pretty much every cliffhanger of the first part of season 5 is connected to parenthood in a sense. We find out that Lizzie is pregnant; Charmaine's twins are actually Calvin's, but one particular revelation managed to surprise even the director of the final episodes, Andy Mikita.
The fact that Mel's biological father is someone from Virgin River (we don't know who yet, but it looks like the upcoming Christmas two-parter will shed light on that) is surely a huge "Whaaat?" for everyone. Mikita is no exception.
"I was a bit floored by that. And it became a running joke on set, we were all speculating, everybody is wondering what the answer is. I was literally going through my database of okay, who could it possibly be? I didn’t see it coming. None of us did," the director revealed to Deadline.
Naturally, the crew needed these answers in order to understand what they were shooting, but it looks like the revelation was just as surprising for them as it was for fans.
Now, the only thing the fandom is left to do is wait until November 30, when Virgin River season 5 returns with two Christmas episodes.
Then, the show will be back for season 6, although the premiere date is yet to be scheduled.
