Game of Thrones is rightly considered one of the greatest television shows in history, largely due to the unexpected twists and turns that keep viewers excited for each new episode.

It turns out that not only were mere mortals tormented by the unknown, but members of the British royal family were also watching the battle for the Iron Throne.

The murder of Jon Snow was both a surprise and the most obvious thing that could have happened on Game of Thrones.

After the shock of noble Ned Stark's beheading in the first season, HBO's blockbuster made sure that no one was safe on this fantasy epic.

We now know that killing Jon with the hands and sharp knives of the Night's Watch was a trick.

He did die, but was brought back to life three episodes later: the Red Priestess Melisandre asked for the intercession of her god, the Lord of Light.

Harington himself was involved in the deception. He told his parents and his girlfriend actress Rose Leslie, who also starred in Game of Thrones, that he would be back.

However, according to the official version for the rest of the world, Snow was no more. The actor said the same thing when he bid farewell to the cast at the Game of Thrones headquarters in Belfast.

Sophie Turner, who played Sansa Stark, was so upset that she wrote a tearful letter wishing Harington all the best for the future.

On a recent episode of The Late Late Show with James Corden, Kit admitted that he hadn't revealed the secret even to a member of the royal family, who was clearly trying to find out if Jon Snow really wasn't going to return to the series.

According to the actor, he was invited to a royal dinner at Wimbledon. Lunch took place in the off-season, after the end of the fifth season, in which Snow was killed.

At that point, the show caught up with the plot of the books, which were written parallel to the show, so even those who read the original text did not know Jon's fate.

At one point, Camilla, the wife of King Charles III, sat next to Kit and asked "So, are you actually dead?"

Then the actor realized why he was invited to lunch – the future Queen Consort of the United Kingdom was eager to find out what would happen to one of the beloved characters of the viewers.

And although the story of Jon Snow, like the story of Game of Thrones, has already ended, the audience has the opportunity to find out what happened before the events of the cult series in House of the Dragon.

The second season will most likely be released in the spring or summer of 2024.
