Some things need to change, and it needs to be quick.

While there are some rumors that the producers are finally ready to come up with a deal that would be acceptable to both the studios and the writers, SAG AFTRA members continue to take to the streets with little to no traction in negotiations.

With more and more reports of A-list celebrities joining the strikes, there is hope that they will get more attention.

One of the stars recently noticed in the middle of the line is Eva Longoria. Best known to TV viewers for her role as Gabrielle Solis on ABC's iconic Desperate Housewives, the actress has continued to appear in various productions as an actress and even dabbled in directing after the show ended.

Now, as the host of a CNN show, Eva Longoria: Searching for Mexico, the actress admitted that she doesn't feel like she can work to her full capacity under today's industry conditions:

“You’re on one show that now only shoots six episodes, eight episodes a year and you can’t do any other show. This is unsustainable for writers, for actors, directors. There’s not enough work to keep me off of doing other things. I think our industry is not set up to service our ambition. I want to be agnostic; I want to have 85 shows, and I want to direct everything and I want to be in everything,” Longoria said.

It turns out that the crazy shooting schedules and long post-production times of most TV shows and movies today don't really serve anyone's interests except the studios trying to keep viewers and actors hooked. While creators struggle to express their ambitions, their fans are forced to sit and wait for years to get another piece of content.

Hopefully, the agreement that SAG AFTRA will eventually reach on procedures will include these points of contractual obligation. If not, we're in danger of once again being stuck in this never-ending cycle of waiting that benefits no one.

Until the strikes are resolved, all viewers have to do is re-watch the content that has already aired. If you want to join in and refresh your memory of Gabrielle Solis' best Desperate Housewives moments, you can stream the show on Hulu or Disney Plus.
