Eternals Sequel Seemingly on Track to Resurrect One Key Character
Moreover, there is a reasonable way to explain the resurrection.
If you are an Eternals fan, then there is some good news for you: firstly, the sequel might be arriving sooner than you think, and secondly, one character who got killed off in the first movie might return.
The management agency of Gilgamesh actor Ma Dong-seok's (Don Lee), Big Punch Entertainment, appeared to hint in its new statement that the actor will return in Eternals 2.
"Currently, Ma Dong-seok is filming 'Criminal City 4'. 'Holy Night: Demon Hunters', 'Wilderness', and 'Criminal City 3' are about to be released, and 'Eternals 2' and other global projects he'll be appearing in are planned to be produced," the statement promoting the actor's upcoming projects said.
Dong-seok's Gilgamesh died in the first movie, and at first, his return seemed problematic to fans, but then they realized it was not as complicated as they thought.
"I was gonna say "isn't Gilgamesh dead?" but then I remembered they're going to Arishem's home so they'll probably just hatch a new Gilgamesh," Twitter user reyndeer said.
It's true: basically, Eternals are immortal due to their memories being stored by the Celestials, so even if they die, they can be hatched again. A similar thing might theoretically happen to Salma Hayek's Ajax and Richard Madden's Ikaris, even though there have been no hints on their character's possible return.
The premiere date for the Eternals 2 remains unknown, but the statement by Big Punch Entertainment already has fans thinking that the sequel might even arrive before the new installments of the Avengers franchise do. Marvel Studios is yet to officially comment on the place of the Eternals sequel in its timeline.
