Emma D’Arcy Teases Rhaenyra Getting A Makeover In House of The Dragon S2
Be prepared to be surprised by a new look fit for the Queen.
If there's one thing that deserves a lot of credit in House of The Dragon, besides all the time and effort that went into actually creating several different dragons with different looks and different personalities, it's the hair and makeup department.
Since House Targaryen has always been known for its beautiful silver-blonde hair, the production team had no choice but to go to great lengths to create a variety of wigs with different textures, styles, and lengths.
While some were better than others, the wigs generally became the focus of attention throughout the series.
Although some actors, like Matt Smith, who portrays Daemon Targaryen, absolutely hated the process of putting them on, others, like Paddy Considine and Emma D'Arcy, who portray Viserys and Rhaenyra Targaryen, found them to be the perfect tool for an instant transformation.
For the actor, who usually sports a shorter hairstyle and enjoys a rather bold, colorful look, Rhaenyra's long blonde locks became a key part of getting into the role.
“Wigs are amazing. They change everything about your behavior. They change how you are read and received by the world. The world outside the makeup trailer is a different one, and responds differently to the one that you left going in in the morning,” D’Arcy said in their most recent interview for AwardsWatch.
They also teased a new look for their character Rhaenyra Targaryen. With all the challenges she faced at the end of season 1, it's only fitting that she gets a new look.
Although Emma D'Arcy didn't go into details so as not to spoil all the fun for the fans, they did admit that the new wig is "a great one," which means it's definitely worth our attention.
With season 2 of House of The Dragon currently in production, there are many news, rumors, and updates coming from the set every day. Keep an eye out for more to make sure you don't miss any release date announcements!
