The House of the Dragon star appears to be quite spot-on when it comes to Game of Thrones favorites.

When Emma D'Arcy was cast to portray Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon, they had to binge-watch the entire eight seasons of Game of Thrones, because, believe it or not, they somehow avoided the mass obsession before.

When they did, though, they fell for one particular character, and the choice might seem a bit odd until it doesn't.

"I had a real soft spot for the Hound!" D'Arcy revealed in an interview with The Guardian.

Honestly? Same. At least that's how many other Game of Thrones fans feel about Rory McCann's character.

Sandor Clegane, widely known as the Hound, was the younger brother of Ser Gregor Clegane and the personal bodyguard of Prince Joffrey Baratheon. In the hope of having a greater purpose in life, he later joined the Brotherhood Without Banners. When the White Walkers arrived, he fought alongside the army of Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen.

According to fans, the Hound was "the best thing" about the highly controversial eighth season of the popular series, and it is widely believed that he had the best character arc throughout the whole show. Some people even believe that the Song of Ice and Fire is actually the Hound's, with "his hero's journey takes him North, to the land of ice, where he conquers his fear of fire, allowing him to fulfill his destiny."

It seems that Emma D'Arcy did their homework well — not only they know the Game of Thrones universe impeccably after binging the entire show, but also they seem to feel the vibe of the entire fandom and pick just the best character to root for.

D'Arcy will return as Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon season 2, with the shooting set to kick off in March 2023. The premiere date is yet to be announced by HBO.
