Elizabeth Olsen’s WandaVision Pilot Reaction

The actress, who is known for her role as Wanda in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, admitted that she sees the problems with her own performance. While some actors struggle when they have to get into character for the first time, it turns out that Olsen had a much harder time adjusting to being the center of attention.

Coming from the MCU films, which are packed with characters, action and lines from many talented characters across the set, playing the lead in Disney Plus' WandaVision was harder than expected for Elizabeth Olsen. Plus, the pilot had to be filmed in front of a live audience, which only added to the challenge.

As a result, she wasn't able to give her best during the filming of the pilot and now finds it difficult to watch it again. This is what one actress said when she spoke with Kaley Cuoco as part of Variety's Actors on Actors feature:

“We did a live audience for the first episode, and that was the first thing we shot. It was very confusing how to play to the camera. Like, I was like projecting, because I’m used to stage. When I watched the first episode, I’m like, ‘Oh, goddamn it.’ I was so frustrated because I can see my 10-year-old theater-kid self playing out to the audience instead of the camera.”

As someone who has had to deal with filming in front of live audiences for 12 years as part of the cast of The Big Bang Theory, Cuoco was nothing but understanding. And so were we - after all, the problems with the acting are imperceptible to anyone who isn't in the business, and the overall quality of WandaVision was not affected in the slightest.
