Donald Glover Reunites With Alexander Skarsgård For Mr & Mrs Smith

It's compelling, it's fun, it's romantic in the best possible way.

The chemistry between the Smiths, which Jolie and Smith captured so perfectly that it led to Brad Pitt's scandalous divorce from Jennifer Aniston, is still hard to beat. No matter what later led to the couple's off-screen breakup and divorce, the film will forever stand as a testament to the exploding emotions that once existed.

On top of that, Amazon Prime's upcoming take on the story has a lot more to bring to the table. As Maya Erskine, who will star opposite Glover as Jane Smith, previously revealed to EW, they have no ambition to be the next hot thing in Hollywood. Instead, they wanted to bring the story to a general audience:

“Angelina and Brad are untouchable in that you can't recreate that, and Donald and I are just so different so it felt exciting to play a couple that you might recognize as your friends or yourselves. You could see yourself in these characters, but they're spies.”

But that is not the only thing that will surprise viewers of the show. Mr. & Mrs. Smith has already assembled an extensive cast for the eight-episode show, but it seems to be growing by the day.

John and Jane Smith will be portrayed by Donald Glover and Maya Erskine, and these are the only two roles that have been cast so far. Back in 2022, it was announced that Michaela Coel, John Turturro and Paul Dano would be joining the show in yet unknown roles. Now, even more actors are joining the party.

Alexander Skarsgård, Sarah Paulson, Eiza Gonzalez, Billy Campbell, as well as many others are all set to join the Mr. & Mrs. Smith universe. With so many names and so little time to properly explore each character, it's safe to assume that most of them will end up guest-starring in just a few scenes.

Alexander Skarsgård, for example, is no stranger to appearing in an episodic role on Donald Glover's show. Back in 2022, he made a hilarious appearance as himself in the tenth episode and season finale of Atlanta's third season. This gesture was greatly appreciated by fans, so the news of his appearance on Mr. & Mrs. Smith was met with similar cheers.
