On March 7, The CW aired the final episode 13 of season 1 of The Winchesters. Despite the backlash against the rest of the season, the final episode melted the hearts of many.

In The Winchesters, John and his future wife Mary Campbell fight off the Akrida from an alternate reality.

Because of the appearance of such unusual villains, fans have suggested that the show's action takes place in another dimension – not the one that was in Supernatural. And in episode 13, that theory was confirmed.

At the beginning of episode 13, Dean gave John a letter and went to Kansas. Bobby Singer scolded Dean for changing the course of events.

Dean and Bobby died in their own universe, as revealed in the final season of Supernatural, the characters ended up in heaven. In The Winchesters, Dean and Bobby appeared as ghosts.

Later, in episode 13, it was revealed that Dean took his Impala on a journey through the multiverse after his death. He wanted to find a universe where his family could have a happy ending.

Dean learned that the arrival of the Akrida Leader was God/Chuck Shurley's final attempt to destroy humanity.

So Dean interfered with the natural order of things to defeat the Akrida and save the multiverse from potential disaster.

By his actions, Dean has changed the fate of his parents in the alternate reality.

Dean's decision may seem risky and daring, although, after destroying the Winchesters' reality, the Akrida could take over other worlds, including the Supernatural dimension.

Fans who had already lost faith in the project admitted that the show began to pick up steam in the second half of the season, and the final episode brought many to tears.

"While I still think the acting and cgi could be better the story really picks up after episode 6. I just binge watched the rest and did not expect to be crying in the last episode after absolutely hating it half way through. The show really redeems itself in the end," Reddit user Its-Slammin said.

But some fans still believe that the show was doomed from the start, with lazy writibg and being nothing more than parasites on the original show.

"The show is an absolute disaster. The writing is horrible and a lot of the acting is brutal to watch. […] I am a huge Supernatural fan and forced myself to watch every episode so far even though it gets worse every week and I have never been more disappointed in a show," Reddit user No-Tip-424 commented.

Although there is no exact information yet on whether there will be a second season, fans hope that if the series is renewed, it will continue on the same high note that it ended on.
