Don't Get Mad, But It Seems That Rachel Was to Blame For Friends' Worst Breakup After All
"We were on a break!" is not our argument for Rachel's being at fault for the breakup, but she might be a little bit guilty nevertheless.
Rachel and Ross' infamous breakup has had people divided for almost 30 years now.
While half of the world blames Ross for cheating and thinks that he is solely responsible for the relationship's downfall, another half pins it all on Rachel, saying that she has been dismissive of Ross, which ultimately leads to the fight and the break(up).
Not to offend the feminists of the world, but there may be a grain of truth in the latter's opinion, and it is not what you think.
Remember how Rachel is always busy with her new job and can't find the time in her schedule to celebrate her anniversary with Ross (even when he comes to her workplace with candles and a picnic basket)?
What if she actually is not as busy as she makes it seem? No (to be read in you-know-who's voice). Let us elaborate.
The couple breaks up in the sixteenth episode of the third season The One with the Morning After, and Rachel looks a tad overworked at this point.
However, just three episodes earlier, in The One Where Monica and Richard are Friends, Rachel and Joey seem to have all the time in the world to read each other's favorite novels – in Rachel's case, she finishes Stephen King 's The Shining from cover to cover in a matter of days.
That is no small book, so how does our busy bee find the time to read it to the end if she works such long hours that she can't spend any quality time with her boyfriend? Caught red-handed!
In all seriousness, of course, Rachel does not have to prioritize her relationship with Ross over her career and/or hobbies – she is entitled to spend her free time however she pleases.
This is just a curious detail that comes to mind when you think about the aftermath of Ross and Rachel's breakup.
Anyway, those two have been happily married for a long time now, and there is no point in fixating on their breakup. No matter whose side you are on, it is time to move on, forgive, and forget. Shall we?
