Back in the 1990s, Melissa Joan Hart was the star of not just one well-known teen sitcom, but two of them.

Clarissa Explains it All and Sabrina the Teenage Witch featured her as the respective main characters. But by now everyone might have expected that period of her career to remain firmly in the past.

Yet in our age of sequels and reboots, few popular properties are left alone permanently. And so there were attempts to revive both of these sitcoms. First, Nickelodeon attempted to reboot Clarissa Explains it All with Hart returning as Clarissa, but now in the role of a mother.

However, that reboot was eventually cancelled.

Sabrina the Teenage Witch, however, was successfully rebooted in 2018, when Netflix launched The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. It used the original character crew of Sabrina the Teenage Witch, played by new actors, but changed the genre, from a comedic sitcom to a dark urban fantasy with strong horror elements. The series was only moderately successful, ending after four seasons, and Melissa Joan Hart was not involved with it. But the possibility that she might be invited to play in some new revival remains.

However, Melissa herself is skeptical towards such ideas, and in fact about more Sabrina reboots in general, as she said in a recent interview.

"And I just don't think it would be as great as the original. I just don't think there's any way. People like to remember; they're nostalgic for what they've had. And trying to recreate that can be really difficult as we've seen. And I always like to move forward."

She added, however, "If it were to come about, it would have to be a special situation."

So, she is not totally against the idea of a reboot, but skeptical about probable execution. She, along with the rest of old Sabrina cast, was positive towards Chilling Adventures of Sabrina when that show got released, and participated in a reaction video of the old cast recording their (exaggeratedly funny) reactions to the new show.

But of course, if Sabrina the Teenage Witch is ever to appear on the screen again, and if Melissa Joan Hart is to take part in the show, she certainly won't be playing the titular character – unless, maybe the show is a distant direct sequel and Sabrina is now among the older generation of characters – for the obvious reason of her age.
