The return of the actress to the role of Samantha came as a surprise to fans.

The last episode of The Sex And The City was released in 2004. The cult series is almost 20 years old, but it is by no means outdated.

The worldwide recognition was so significant that in 2021 the sequel And Just Like That… was released, where fans were able to see the life of Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte many years later.

Fans were upset when they learned that Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha, would not be returning for the sequel. However, it was recently announced that the actress will be returning to the iconic role.

Kim Cattrall will make a cameo appearance in the final 11th episode of season 2, but will only appear in a short scene. According to the plot of And Just Like That…, Samantha moved to London.

She will not return to New York in season 2 – she will be on the phone with Carrie Bradshaw, played by Sarah Jessica Parker.

In season 1 it was revealed that Carrie and Samantha had a falling out. The former friends only communicated through text messages, but at the end of the season they agreed to meet to finally reconcile.

Behind the on-screen spat between Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker's characters is a real conflict between the actresses.

Cattrall announced in 2016 that she would no longer play Samantha, as the script for a possible third film (the first two parts were released in 2008 and 2010) did not do justice to the character.

According to the actress, the story for the never-released third movie did not justify the existence of the project at all.

However, many fans are sure that it was the long-standing feud between the two actresses that caused such criticism of the project by Kim.

The behind-the-scenes feud between Cattrall and Parker doesn't seem to be over, as they didn't reunite on the set of And Just Like That… Cattrall did not see Parker during filming in New York, nor did she see the author of the original series and the sequel, Michael Patrick King.

The premiere of season 2 of t And Just Like That… is scheduled for June 22. The episode with the phone call between Carrie and Samantha will air on August 24.
