The concept of time travel is very popular all over the world, including South Korea. These ten projects are the best k-dramas about time travelers that will appeal to fans of both sci-fi and romance.

1. Blue Birthday, 2021

Ha-rin and Seo-jun have been friends for a decade, and all this time Ha-rin has been in love with Seo-jun. On her eighteenth birthday, she is determined to confess her feelings to him. Seo-jun invites her to his photo studio with the promise of a surprise, but the party turns into a tragedy – Ha-rin discovers her friend dead.

Ten years later, on her birthday and the anniversary of Seo-jun's death, she stumbles upon the old photo studio where Seo-jun used to hang out. His camera and some of his photos are still there. The photos make Ha-rin sad, so she decides to burn them. But when she burns the first photo, she goes back in time and has a chance to fix everything and save Seo-jun from death.

The girl is transported back several years to when she was in high school and could still walk. And Sun-jae was not yet an idol suffering from depression: he lived next door to Im Sol. Im Sol is determined to prevent the tragedy that awaits Sun-jae in the future: he tried to commit suicide and there was no one to save him.

4. My Perfect Stranger, 2023

As the title promises, the drama is about two strangers who find themselves in the same year in the past and discover that they are not just strangers to each other. Hae-jun works as a news anchor – he is a good professional and a talented journalist. Yoon-young, who once dreamed of becoming a writer, works as an editor at a publishing house and does not enjoy her work.

When the two meet in 1987, they each set their own goals: Yoon-young wants to prevent his mother's death, and Hae-jun wants to investigate the case of a serial killer. Suddenly it turns out that their goals are connected.

5. A Time Called You, 2023

A story in which the plot is so intricately twisted that you have to watch every frame carefully not to miss anything. Jun-hee's fiancé died in a plane crash a year ago, and the girl still can't get over the loss. One day, she receives a package containing a photograph of people who look very much like her and her fiancé, as well as a cassette player.

But the strange events don't end there: one day, Jun-hee wakes up in the body of a schoolgirl named Min-ju in 1998. Very quickly Jun-hee realizes that it was Min-ju who was in the photo that was sent to her. And the guy next to her who looks so much like Jun-hee's fiancé, Min-ju's classmate, is the most popular boy in school.

6. Mr. Queen, 2020-2021

Narcissistic chef Bong-hwan is fired from his job. But that's not all – detectives come to his house with accusations of corruption. Bong-hwan falls from the balcony and comes to his senses not in the hospital.

He is transported several centuries back in time, to the Joseon period, and finds himself trapped in the body of a girl. Not just any girl, but Princess So-yong, who is about to be married. And from historical books, the man remembers that her husband is considered one of the cruelest rulers in Korea.

7. Twinkling Watermelon, 2023

High school student Eun-gyeol is passionate about music, but is forced to hide his passion from his family. His parents and younger brother are deaf, and Eun-gyeol is the person through whom they communicate with others. He feels responsible for them and often puts his own desires in the background.

One day, his father finds out that Eun-gyeol is playing in a music group at night, and they have a fight. Eun-gyeol runs away to wander through the city and stumbles upon an unusual music store that takes him back in time. In the past, Eun-gyeol meets his father, a charismatic high school student who can not only hear but also play the guitar.

8. Marry My Husband, 2024

Ji-won is unhappy in her marriage – she works a lot, takes care of the house and suffers attacks from her husband and his mother. Doctors discover that the woman has cancer caused by stress, and she has no chance of recovery.

Ji-won is completely shattered when she returns home from the hospital to find her husband with her best friend. She also overhears them rejoicing over the fact that she will soon die. But Ji-won dies not from cancer, but at the hands of her own husband. She comes to her senses back in 2013 and has a chance to change her future and take revenge.

9. Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, 2016

A project that has become a classic among historical k- dramas and broke more than one heart. The main character, Ha-jin, lives in the 21st century. She experiences the betrayal of her boyfriend and best friend, who ran away together, leaving Ha-jin with huge debts. Disappointed with people, she dreams of changing her life.

And her life really does change – in a park by the lake, she sees a little boy drowning and jumps in to save him, but goes under herself. And when she comes up, Ha-jin finds herself in the ancient Korean state of Goryeo. And her new identity, Hae Soo, is one of the royal family's closest aides.

10. Life on Mars, 2018

Life on Mars has received much praise for its perfect blend of crime, mystery and comedy. The k-drama is based on the 2006 British series of the same name.

The main character is an experienced detective, Han Tae-joo, the head of the criminal division. His next case, an investigation into a series of mysterious murders, literally takes him back in time. Tae-joo gets into an accident and finds himself back in 1987 and discovers that the same madman from the present is operating in the past. Tae-joo feels that he must catch him in order to return home.
