Disturbing Skrull Theory That Actually Threatens the Entire MCU If True
Secret Invasion has just premiered, turning just about the only peaceful aliens in the MCU into villains.
Over the course of the two episodes already released, Secret Invasion has established a new motto – trust no one, they might be a Skrull. Gravik, disguised as Nick Fury, has already tricked and killed Maria Hill in the first episode, and we have a feeling that won’t be the biggest shocker of the series.
Reddit fans have come up with a fascinating theory: since Skrulls can take anyone’s physical form and mind, what if they also get their abilities? Imagine if Gravik or any other Skrull takes Doctor Strange or Wanda’s form and they are suddenly able to use their superpowers as well. That’s a scary thought.
We have already seen Ned, Peter Parker’s bestie, use Doctor Strange’s sling ring to perform magic, so we know that it’s possible.
If a Skrull steals Doctor Strange’s physical appearance and memories (which include the knowledge of how to use spells) and gets his hands on the sling ring, does that mean that they would be able to do exactly what he can do? If so, the entire MCU could be in jeopardy.
The Skrulls first came to Earth in 1995, and by the time Secret Invasion takes place, they have already made themselves pretty comfortable on the planet. They have taken the forms of the most powerful people on Earth and launched a full-on invasion without anyone noticing.
If they can appear as any of the surviving Avengers too, they can easily take over the planet.
That’s not even the worst part. If Skrulls have been on Earth since 1995, who’s to say that some of the Avengers haven’t in fact been Skrulls all along, or at least been replaced by Skrulls at some point?
That’s a terrifying idea that makes you want to reconsider everything that has happened in the MCU since the beginning of the 21st century.
Anyone could be a Skrull, and whatever direction Secret Invasion will choose to take next might bring about a completely different MCU in the middle of Phase Five. The multiverse is getting tiresome, so introducing a Skrull-related plot twist that changes everything might be exactly what Marvel needs.
