Disney's Ultra-Secretive Ways Left Loki Cast Completely in the Dark
How Loki stars auditioned for unknown roles.
Marvel Cinematic Universe is expanding not only with numerous scheduled movies but also with diverse series on Disney Plus. With so many projects in the works, one thing is extremely crucial — keep it all in secret.
We all know how much Disney and Marvel Studios love their secrets. Sometimes, they have to resort to extreme measures to protect them.
Similarly, some of the cast members of the Disney Plus’ hit show Loki revealed that they were left completely in the dark about their roles.
Auditioning for a role and having no clue about the character you're trying out sounds a bit crazy, but it is actually exactly what happened with auditioning for Loki.
Tom Hiddleston, the absolute fan-favorite Loki, was already familiar with his character. However, newcomers like Sophia Di Martino, who portrayed Sylvie (or Lady Loki), had no idea about the character or even the show they were auditioning for.
Di Martino shared that her audition script had characters named 'Bob' and 'Sarah' in a train scene. Little did she know, it was actually a pivotal scene between Loki and Sylvie.
Wunmi Mosaku, who portrayed Hunter B-15, had a similar experience. After her fantastic performance in HBO's Lovecraft Country, she was proposed to take part in Loki. However, he didn't even know she was auditioning for it.
Even the voiceover actors weren't spared from Disney's tight-lipped approach. Miss Minutes, the quirky TVA mascot, also had her share of secrecy.
Tara Strong, the voice behind Miss Minutes, was given minimal details about her character. She was left to figure out the character's essence based on a vague description.
Disney's ultra-secrecy isn't just for the thrill. It's a strategic move to prevent potential spoilers from leaking out. With the massive fan following and the buzz around MCU shows, it's crucial to keep storylines under wraps. And let's be honest, it adds to the excitement and anticipation for the fans.
Loki season 2 is one of the most anticipated MCU’s projects so far. The upcoming installment is set to premiere on October 6 on Disney Plus.
