Never noticed CGI in Young Sheldon? Well, good for you.

CGI is not something you would usually see in a TV series like Young Sheldon, but there are examples, and to be honest, the show would have been better off without using it (if it indeed did resort to it).

A Reddit user has brought an interesting point. They shared a particular scene from the series that drew attention not in the best way possible. The scene in question is from season 5 where we see a shot of Radio Shack headquarters.

The only question this scene raised on Reddit: why do the cars look like they're animated in 3D? And indeed, the cars look unbelievably fake. It left fans wondering why they didn't use real cars instead.

Why Did Young Sheldon Use 3D Cars Instead of Real Ones?

Well, the only reasonable response is that finding new-looking cars from 30 years ago isn't exactly a walk in the park. Plus, the late 80s and early 90s weren't exactly a golden era for car manufacturing, making it tough to find cars from that period in good condition.

Not only is it difficult, it is also more expensive. So, what's the deal with Young Sheldon and its CGI cars? It seems like a practical choice. Finding period-accurate cars in mint condition is a tall order, and CGI offers a cost-effective solution.

Plus, not everyone notices or minds the CGI, especially when watching on smaller screens. However, another question arises: why do 3D cars look so unrealistic and cheap?

Unfortunately, there is no public information on the show’s budget per episode, but let’s be honest, they could make those cars more realistic if they wanted. Still, many viewers don't even notice these kinds of things because of how otherwise great the show is.
