The grueling WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes are finally over. At least as long as the tentative agreement satisfies the industry's workers (the actors have yet to ratify a new contract). As a result, the film and television industry is gradually getting back on track. Moreover, with the disputes over, the actors began to reappear in public, revealing fascinating details about their projects.

Such was the case with Stranger Things. It seems that the script for the fifth and final season has already been written, the series is in production and shooting could begin soon. At the same time, the actor behind everyone's favorite Jim Hopper, David Harbour, has come out and teased some very intriguing, if not worrying, details.

David Harbour Teases 'Real Ending'

On November 11th and 12th, David Harbour attended the Motor City Comic Con, an annual fan convention in Novi, Michigan. On Sunday, he chatted with fans, and of course, there was no shortage of questions about what's next for Stranger Things.

As such, one fan asked about the possibility of the show being renewed for a sixth season, not knowing that the fifth season has been officially confirmed as the final one. Harbour, however, was not confused and shared details about what we can look forward to in Season 5. It's quite possible that we should start worrying about how things might end!

'The beauty of it is there's a real ending — things will end in a very real way,' Harbour shared.

It's still unclear what the 'real' ending might be. However, he revealed that despite the possibility of spin-offs, as well as the implementation of the main storyline in the prequel stage play Stranger Things: The First Shadow (premiering November 17 at the Phoenix Theatre in London's West End), the main storyline that began 'With the Upside Down' will end 'at the final episode of Season 5,' meaning the ending will be ultimate and definitive.

What Could That Mean?

Naturally, Harbour and the rest of the cast and crew are not allowed to reveal any significant details, so any hints have to be taken with a grain of salt. Nevertheless, fans have already begun to speculate about what's in store for Hawkins.

Not that we'd want to, but it could be a reference to Hopper's death. Yes, we've already encountered his supposed death once, which turned out to be a teleportation to the Soviet Union, so this decision by the Duffer brothers could disappoint fans and undermine the entire character development storyline (especially his long and convoluted relationship with Joyce, for whom they finally admitted to having romantic feelings in season four).

However, what could be more realistic than the death of one of the leads? So many supporting characters have died over the course of the four seasons that the miraculous survival of each protagonist devalues the deaths of everyone else. Perhaps the Duffers have decided to end their story on a note that is tragic for some and hopeful for others.

Let's hope we are wrong, though!

When Will Stranger Things Season 5 Be Released?

Harbour reportedly traveled to Atlanta, Georgia, where the show is being produced, immediately after Comic Con. This hardly means that filming has begun, as it always takes a several weeks to complete the pre-production phase, but it could indicate the beginning of the transition to the active production phase. If that's the case, it's conceivable that filming could begin either late this month or early next month, after Thanksgiving.

If that's the case, the final Season 5 of Stranger Things could be scheduled for release as early as the fall of 2024.
