Did Mark Ruffalo Just Confirm 'World War Hulk'?
After that 'She-Hulk' episode, chances of 'World War Hulk' coming to screens soon are getting higher.
Warning: the following article contains spoilers for 'She-Hulk: Attorney at Law' episode 2
In the second episode of 'She-Hulk: Attorney at Law', we had the chance to yet again see Bruce Banner, but this time he appears to have set the show on the road and leave the planet in order to take care of some mysterious things that are most likely connected to planet Sakaar and the spaceship that arrived on Earth apparently looking for Hulk.
After seeing Bruce departing to space, fans immediately speculated that 'She-Hulk' is setting the stage for 'World War Hulk' – a movie that could cover the comics arc of the same name that had Savage Hulk turning into a gladiator under the name Worldbreaker and returning to Earth from Sakaar only to wage intergalactic war against the Avengers.
It turns out that Mark Ruffalo ( Bruce Benner) is also quite ready to theorize. Speaking with Variety, the actor did not rule out that 'She-Hulk' could be setting up new chapters for his character.
"I do think that the trip to Sakaar is a good place to start and what that means to the idea of what the fans have been asking for — this idea of 'Planet Hulk' or 'World War Hulk' or just the journey that Banner and Hulk have to make to come to peace with each other," Ruffalo said. "That's really interesting to me, and I do feel like there is some interest in exploring that down the line."
However, Marvel Studios is yet to officially comment on the future of any Hulk-related projects, including 'World War Hulk'. Should the movie happen, it will likely change the comic arc for the sake of fitting the MCU lore, but fans are already suspecting that the return of Savage Hulk instead of his calm and smart alter-ego is definitely something to prepare for.
The connection between Hulk and Sakaar is less than subtle: Hulk's spaceship crashed onto the planet in between the events of 'Age of Ultron' and 'Thor: Ragnarok'. In the third Thor movie, God of Thunder discovers Bruce Banner on Sakaar, fighting in an arena as a gladiator champion. In the Infinity Saga, Bruce Banner first spends the Blip trying to combine his Hulk alter-egos and ends up being Smart Hulk; then, he is the one to snap his fingers in the Infinity gauntlet and bring back those wiped out by Thanos.
