Did Helaena Just Foreshadow Her Brothers' Fate in HoTD Episode 6?
What might seem as a kid's gibberish to some might actually be a prophecy.
Warning: the following article contains spoilers for House of the Dragon episode 6
Episode 6 of House of the Dragon has introduced us to a couple of new characters, the majority of which are Alicent and Rhaenyra's kids. When it comes to the queen, she has three kids: Aegon, Aemond, and Helaena. We spend a lot of time with the first two, but the latter appears to be bizarrelly into insects and not quite fond of interacting with others.
But things change when one listens closely to what she is murmuring as Alicent tries to calm Aemond down after he was ridiculed by his brother Aegon.
As she plays with one of her bizarre pets, Helaena says that "he'll have to close an eye" – something that is quite prophetic if you read the books or watched the trailer attentively.
One of the brothers, Aemond, will indeed lose an eye and wear a pirate-style mask to cover it. According to the books, Aemond lost his eye in a fight with his niece Lucerys Velaryon at the age of 10.
But the second brother, Aegon, also had a prophecy from his sister: saying that "the last ring has no legs," she mentioned Aegon being crippled.
According to the books, the Dance of the Dragon has left Aegon crippled, with his body twisted and burnt. Besides, he also broke both his legs at Dragonstone – something that left him unable to walk for the rest of his life.
The way his future sister-wife, Helaena, hinted at her brothers' future, has left fans amused, especially in the wake of Alicent being completely unaware of the importance of what seemed like a child's nonsense.
Just how precise Helaena's prediction will be, we will know very soon. There are four more episodes of House of the Dragon to premiere on HBO Max.
House of the Dragon Season 1 Episode 7 premieres on October 2.
