Well, honestly, it is pretty much impossible to definitively, conclusively answer whether Anakin really loved Padme, because the answer depends heavily on your exact definition of "love" and when exactly, if ever, it crosses over into things like "unhealthy obsession."

It can also change depending on which version of Anakin we're talking about (the movies only; the movies + the books and comics of The Clone Wars multimedia project; or The Clone Wars CG cartoon). But little things like that have never stopped fans from debating and arguing.

On the one hand, Anakin did not share Padme's political views at all.

It was obvious early on that they had completely incompatible beliefs about how the galaxy should be. But if you look at it from the other side, it just put them on the same level in terms of their romance being contrary to their duties. And in terms of their characters and the methods they actually used to achieve their goals, they were shown to be very compatible - Padme did not hesitate to ignore her political obligations as a senator and leader of a major senate faction and go on an adventure across the galaxy with Anakin in Episode II.

Here's Why We Have Never Seen Leonardo DiCaprio in Star Wars

In fact, she urged him on both times they had a choice (to travel to Tatooine and then to Geonosis). And later, during the arena fight, despite all the immediate danger to life and limb, we were shown that both of them are equally excited and high on adrenaline.

There is also a good point about Anakin's relationship with Padme not being any more unhealthy than his personality in general was. As one Redditor said, when the question of their relationship was raised again:

"I don't think he was particularly obsessing over Padmé as a person, at least not after they got married. The obsessive part was always more about his unability to deal with his serious abandonment issues, imo. It's not surprising for someone with his background. He showed those tendencies towards Obi-Wan as well, just in a different manner."

So, without too much of a painstaking analysis, the answer closest to the truth still seems what it was supposed to be: Anakin did love Padme, and his love was one of the best part of him, but due to combination of personal flaws and unfortunate circumstances, it was not enough to keep him from falling.
