Destined to Fail: How Did Disney Destroy Obi-Wan With Just One Show?

Audiences were ecstatic when Disney told fans that a standalone Obi-Wan Kenobi series was coming. It was a chance to rehabilitate the Star Wars universe after the passable Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019).

Ewan McGregor, who had already played Obi-Wan in the Star Wars prequel trilogy (1999-2005), returned to the role of the legendary Jedi. At first, the young knight was only an apprentice, but after the death of his master, Qui-Gon Jinn, he took the young Anakin Skywalker under his wing and continued his training.

Together they fought for the Republic, got rid of Count Dooku, and tried to end the war, but failed. Anakin fell prey to his own fears and ambitions and turned to the dark side of the Force. In the iconic Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005), an epic duel took place between the young Skywalker, who wanted to take over the galaxy, and his Master.

Obi-Wan managed to win, but then went into exile to take care of Anakin's children, as Skywalker's wife Padme had died. After these events, the plot of the series begins.

The action of the show is set on Tatooine, where the Order of Inquisitors arrives to hunt the Jedi. But Obi-Wan no longer tries to protect the helpless, but hides in a cave to keep an eye on young Luke Skywalker. But when Leia goes missing, the old Jedi has to go on a journey.

Along the way, the hero encounters stormtroopers, vicious mercenaries, inquisitors, and even a former apprentice turned infamous Darth Vader. Sounds exciting, but many fans were dissatisfied with the series because it lacked a clear plot and the characters' actions were almost always silly.

Redditor Spider-Flash24 highlighted the most annoying moments in the series. For example, the vast majority of fans were furious that Leia managed to escape from the Empire's captivity.

Such a move belittled all of Palpatine and his apprentice's attempts to take over the galaxy, since even a child can hide from them.

An incredibly stupid part also happened in the long-awaited Kenobi-Vader fight, where the villain, after defeating his former teacher, for some reason left him to suffer. But in the second encounter, Ben pitied Anakin, even though he could have easily ended the war with a single punch.

But Skywalker and Kenobi were not the only ones who toyed with one another. Initially, the main antagonist Reva, who really wanted to take revenge on Vader, was wounded in the stomach, but the first time she pretended to be dead, and the second time the villain decided not to kill her and just left her.

Fans were outraged that the show's characters were just playing off each other, with Anakin unable to deliver the decisive blow. And while the series was visually stunning, viewers could not stand the silliness and lack of logic in the story.
