Deadpool & Wolverine Trailer Solves 3-Year-Old MCU Mystery
Fans have long expected Wade to face the consequences of his own actions, and the new trailer finally puts an end to the speculation.
Summary:
- The first trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine has finally arrived, shedding light on the antihero's MCU debut
- It also revealed a popular fan theory about how Deadpool would switch universes to be true
- Ever since Loki season 1, fans have been expecting Wade's time travel shenanigans to catch the eye of the TVA, and now it has finally happened
At last, the first trailer for the third Deadpool movie, now officially titled Deadpool & Wolverine, has arrived, giving us a glimpse of what to expect from the antihero's highly anticipated MCU debut.
Many fans were worried that joining the MCU would strip Deadpool of his R rating, but that doesn't seem to be the case, as the trailer made it clear that the third film has retained the signature atmosphere of its predecessors.
It also suddenly answered a major question that has lingered for almost three years now, spawning a popular fan theory about how exactly the character will jump from one universe to another.
Fans Have Long Speculated About TVA's Involvement
When the first season of the Loki TV series debuted in June 2021, it revealed the existence of the Time Variance Authority, also known as the TVA, an organization that closely monitors timelines and swiftly prevents the creation of new branches.
However, during the events of 2018's Deadpool 2, Wade significantly interfered with time by using Cable's device to basically rewrite half of the movie's events and save a whole bunch of characters, including his love interest Vanessa.
Although we never even heard of the TVA at the time, after the Loki TV series, fans began to speculate that the organization would play a key role in merging the two cinematic universes, as they do not take such timeline violations lightly.
After all, over the course of the Loki TV series, we saw them erase entire timelines for far less significant transgressions, so many viewers thought it was only a matter of time before they caught up to Wade's shenanigans.
Wade Finally Gets Noticed By The Organization
Now, the new trailer has officially confirmed that theory, as it begins with Wade's birthday party being interrupted by a sudden doorbell, but instead of Hugh Jackman 's Wolverine, it is actually TVA agents paying him a visit.
It appears that Deadpool may trigger the merging of two universes, as after being offered to join the "main" MCU timeline, several other scenes show him fighting the TVA agents, clearly suggesting that some sort of conflict will arise.
Fans will learn the truth relatively soon, as Deadpool & Wolverine is scheduled to premiere on July 26, 2024.
