Could this be a crossover we never expected?

The closer we get to the premiere of the Shazam! sequel Shazam! Fury of the Gods, the more fans get to learn about the upcoming movie plot and the hard work behind it. There are already enough expectations set for this film: previously, director David F. Sandberg mentioned that Shazam's future as a character solely depends on the sequel performance.

Although many don't believe that the character will find his place in James Gunn 's new DCU, it all comes down to the numbers. Fans have to show up if they want to see a story progress — as simple as that.

With all the controversy surrounding Zachary Levi lately, many fans are already getting disappointed and cold toward his character as well. But there is another difficulty that may affect the results: too many characters involved.

Sandberg himself admitted that Shazam! Fury of the Gods is looking a little bit too similar to the famous MCU movies like The Avengers. All thanks to the amount of cast members involved in its creation.

"You have all these heroes, you have the villains, you have the monsters... It's a lot of movie packed into its runtime. And it's complicated," he shared in his interview with GamesRadar.

And it surely is hard to pull out a movie with so many characters and very limited screen time but definitely not impossible! If we're taking the MCU as an example, movies like Captain America: Civil War or Avengers: Endgame were successful enough and didn't receive a lot of criticism. On the other hand, Eternals with 47% on Rotten Tomatoes can be taken as a caution to avoid a movie being too crowded.

Either way, Shazam! Fury of the Gods is already made and waiting for its moment to shine, so we will have to watch and see how it performs. The sequel will premiere in the US on March, 17th. Fans are rooting for characters to return on screens, and there are more than enough chances for their wishes to come true.
