Days of Our Lives' Newcomer Gets Candid About Working On Tight Soap Schedule
That’s an adjustment not everybody can make.
If there's one thing that always gets soap fans excited, it's fresh blood. Especially when they get to see the development of characters who were born into the show from other legacy characters and are now ready to grow up and step into the drama right in front of the audience.
Days of Our Lives fans are particularly fond of these moments, as the show's cast is fairly limited and doesn't often welcome newcomers.
With the news that both Tate Black, the son of Theresa Donovan and Brady Black, and Holly, the daughter of Nicole Walker and Daniel Jonas, were growing up simultaneously, the soap's fans were truly ecstatic.
The casting choice made everything even better. To portray Tate, the show cast young actor Jamie Martin Mann, who's already known to viewers for his performance in the Netflix series Country Comfort.
Although the actor has some experience, working on a soap is always different. Tight schedules and the need to shoot a lot in one day don't leave room for mistakes. Mann, however, wasn't that challenged by the change. As he mentioned in an interview with Soap Opera Digest, he did the opposite and embraced it instead.
“I’m great under pressure, since I come from theater. I remember somebody said, ‘Soap operas are like theater without rehearsal.’ I think Eric [Martsolf] told me that. You have no time to panic, and that was great. The added time pressure component ironically took a layer of stress away, because I didn’t have time to freak out,” the actor shared.
With mentors like Eric Martsolf who have had their shots at a major soap opera, there is no doubt that Jamie Martin Mann comes to the set fully prepared. Now it's just a matter of time for him to fully adapt and bring his best performance to Days of Our Lives viewers who are excited for fresh faces.
If you want to see Jamie Martin Mann as the full-grown teenager Tate Black, you can tune into Days of Our Lives on Peacock. Mann made his first appearance on October 9th, so be sure to catch up on the latest episodes of the show.
