David Harbour Can't Wait for Stranger Things To End Already
Netflix's Stranger Things is coming to an end.
Its Season 5 will tie up a number of loose ends following the dramatic revelations of the Season 4 finale, and will be the final season of the series.
The Duffer brothers have previously noted that the entire arc of Stranger Things was planned and plotted out right from the start, with the expectation that it would take four or five seasons.
While there are plans for possible spin-offs in the future, this particular story is about to be over. The show had a good run, but even good things have to come to an end. David Harbour, who played Jim Hopper, certainly feels that way.
Speaking with Phase Zero podcast, David revealed his complex emotions regarding the show:
"That's a hard question to answer because I'm excited for it to be the end because I'm excited to do other things," he said.
He then explained that there's a lot of other things he's finally ready to do – but still, Hopper is definitely his favorite character that he's ever played, so there's an undeniable sadness to it.
"The great thing is, we know it going in and it's not something where it will come up on us and we'll be like "Oh that was the last time, we got canceled." It's like, we know it and so in that way, I'll be able to pour my soul into this year of filming, or however long it'll take to shoot eight episodes, I'll be able to pour my soul into Jim Hopper who I've loved, but in a way, it'll be a real consummation as opposed to something where I have to feel sad or all kinds of things about it and I can really just do it."
Harbour's attitude is not surprising given that he has been playing Hopper for over 6 years now and is probably keen to get out of the commitment that comes with this project. We can only hope that viewers are equally at peace with the prospect of saying goodbye to their beloved show and its characters.
