Dave Bautista as Bane? DC Fans Raving Over Actor’s Exciting Career Update
The actor confirmed that his days as Drax in the MCU are officially over, but he is open to the idea of playing an "ominous" supervillain.
Summary:
- Dave Bautista has portrayed many great characters over the years, but Drax the Destroyer remains one of the fan favorites
- Sadly, the actor officially retired from the role after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
- But he is not done with the superhero genre in general and wants to portray a villainous character
Dave Bautista may be the greatest case of wrestler-turned-actor that Hollywood has ever seen, leaving no doubt that he is capable of absolutely stunning performances.
Most other WWE stars who have successfully tried their hands at acting, such as Dwayne Johnson and John Cena, have mostly stuck to action and comedy genres.
Bautista, on the other hand, has proven the incredible range of his acting talent by portraying many drastically different characters over the years.
From Sapper Morton in Blade Runner 2049 to Duke Cody in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery and even voicing The Parakeet King in the English dub of Hayao Miyazaki 's The Boy and the Heron, he has rightfully earned the love of countless fans.
Drax Was One of the Actor’s Most Memorable Roles
However, the MCU 's Drax the Destroyer remains one of the actor's greatest roles, as he absolutely nailed the naive comedic nature of the superhero team's "muscle."
Sadly, in a recent interview with Gizmodo, Bautista confirmed that 2023's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was the last time we saw him portray the character.
Even though he loves the franchise and still keeps in touch with Marvel, his journey with Drax is officially over.
Bautista Is Ready for a Supervillain Role
But that doesn't mean the actor is done with superhero movies in general, as Bautista revealed that he's open to the idea of portraying a completely different character, an "ominous villain" who will oppose the heroes.
Considering that the actor stated in the same interview that he is a fan of both Marvel and DC, and that he would answer a call if he got one, many fans already have some pretty intriguing ideas as to which villain Bautista could portray.
Some of them believe that he would have been a perfect choice to play Bane in The Batman movies starring Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, as he would have fit right in with the dark and gritty atmosphere of the franchise.
Others point out that he would be great as Hugo Strange, another of Batman's adversaries known for his elaborate plots.
Considering that The Batman - Part II is scheduled to begin filming this summer, perhaps the creators of the movie should take a hint from the actor's statement and invite him to join the cast of the film or a possible Part III.
