Okay, Homelander is invincible. But what about his suit?

It's all fun and games when you are a superhero who is basically bulletproof, but you cannot walk around the streets naked, can you? That was (probably) the thing for Homelander when he came up with his superhero suit.

He ended up with a beautiful blue-and-red heroic outfit, combined with a striped cape, but have you ever wondered why his suit is just as invincible as he is?

Seriously, the suits don't inherit the powers of their owners, do they? Homelander may be an indestructible force, but what kind of material should one use to dress this man? This is exactly what seems to be bothering The Boys ' subreddit.

And one particular fan theory, which may or may not be brought to reality one day, is just too disturbingly reasonable and fitting in the universe for our comfort.

"The suit isn't leather, but I could imagine a dark comic storyline where a supe/mutant has regenerative powers and tough skin and he's constantly skinned alive to produce super leather for super suits and also protection for VIPs. Obviously nobody is told that's where the super leather comes from and instead they are told it's synthetic," Redditor Put_It_All_On_Blck suggested.

This is so gory and despicable it might actually be absolutely true in The Boys universe!

While other Redditors ponder the possibility of Homelander's suit being made of "keprotech, which is a high end kevlar aramid reinforced fabric," we just can't get the "skinning alive" theory out of our heads, for better of worse.

For all we know, Homelander might as well be perfectly fine knowing that someone is being tortured in order to keep his precious body safe and beautifully wrapped for the media (we said what we said).

Still, if we're being serious, The Boys has never actually delved into details on how the superhero suits are being made, so even the darkest explanations are entirely plausible at this point.

With that being said, good luck getting this disturbing fan theory out of your head. Who knows, maybe the upcoming fourth season of The Boys will offer an explanation that is not so nightmarish.
